Task 10

Hello, everyone!

Last Thursday, while preparing a reading task, I had caught some difficulties with these word phrases:

1.    demand will soon outstrip supply
2.    oversubscribed destinations
3.    maximize profits

I did not clearly understand the translation of them in the context of the text.

Then, with the help of our teacher I have found out that there is a very useful site https://sentence.yourdictionary.com/ , where it is possible to find a translation of any word you wish, and, moreover, there are lots of examples of any word in context!

Thus, I have searched exact meanings of this word phrases in the context of the text, and I want to share with you some information about these word phrases which I found there:

1.
·         In legal definition, demand is: a claim for money or other relief or the assertion of a legal right.
In this context the word would be used this way: Canned goat milk wasn't the same and goat meat wasn't exactly in high demand in this area.
·         To outstrip means: to excel; surpass
She was famed for her running, and would only consent to marry a suitor who could outstrip her in a race, the consequence of failure being death.
·         Supply is: an amount available or sufficient for a given use; stock
Our supply of milk is low.

And now, after an analyzing this word construction, I am ready to make up my own example:
If the government does not makes any changes in our economical system, the demand will soon outstrip supply, which entails a huge crisis.

2.
·         Here oversubscribed means: overpurchased
·         Destinations in the context takes this meaning: the place to which one is going
When they reached their destination, Alex pulled her aside and gently corrected her.
If his destination was the courthouse, he was an hour early.

Here my sentence would be:

When I was planning where to spend my holidays, I found out that in summer the most of destinations are oversubscribed in comparison with winter.

3.
·         Maximize is : to increase to the maximum; raise to the highest possible degree; enlarge, intensify, etc. as much as possible
For migratory species on the verge of stock collapse, we must now aim to maximize the potential to recover.
·         Profit here means: monetary gain from business transactions
Of the net income, leaving a profit for the year of £914,216.

My own example here is:

To maximize profits their company needs a shake-up, for them it would be useful to create a new title or make a really good advertisement.

By the way, I hope it was useful for you to read this article, and if you have any questions, do not hesitate to write them down in the comments below!

    1. Some things to consider:

*had caught some difficulties (WExp + WTense) > meet/encounter some difficulties
in summer *the (ART) most of destinations
